What's On In Porto This January

Happy New Year and welcome to 2026! Hope everyone survived the end of 2025 in one piece. I, for one, am still trying to recover from the slightly unhinged amounts of pão de ló and rabanadas I ate over the festive season.

January has now officially arrived. The decorations are down, real life has resumed, and everyone’s easing into that phase where resolutions are made, questioned, and quietly renegotiated. Maybe you ate the twelve grapes at midnight, maybe you made sure there were coins in your wallet for good luck, maybe you wore red underwear because someone’s aunt insisted — whether any of that translates into fewer situationships or better decisions this year remains to be seen.

What is certain is that Porto isn’t starting the year quietly. There’s a solid lineup of events happening this month, so here’s what’s going on around the city in January.

JANUARY FREE EVENTS

📍Parque Central da Maia
📆 January 10

If your New Year’s resolution includes buying less fast fashion and more “I found this at a market” pieces, this one’s for you. The Flea Market is a proper rummage — clothes, books, records, crockery, furniture, random objects you didn’t know you needed but suddenly can’t live without. The first flea market of the year lands on January 10, and yes, it happens every second Saturday of the month if you miss this one.

PS. Don’t forget to bring cash!

📍 Fisga Warehouse
📅 January 22  19: 30 | Sign Up Here

Cult horror classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, is making its way back to the big screen as FISGA hosts another one of their much loved FREE movie nights. Doors open at 19:30, and the movie starts promptly at 20:30, so grab a friend and enjoy the show!

📍Jardim do Morro – Metro station
📆 Every Saturday |  10:00

If your New Year’s resolution involves actually moving your body, trying to be more active, or even vaguely considering running a half marathon, the Founders Running Club has you covered. Every Saturday they do 5Ks around Porto — a mix of founders, friends, and anyone who likes a bit of morning energy and conversation. No pressure, just good vibes (and slightly sweaty high fives).

📍Look.Sharp Café
📆 January 7 & 24 | 21:00 – 22:30 | Get Your Tickets

Portugal’s English-speaking comics are back, and things are guaranteed to get a bit… messy. Expect awkward confessions, weird obsessions, and jokes that probably shouldn’t exist. Three or four of the country’s boldest performers take the stage, and yes, you’ll leave laughing, gasping, and wondering how this got approved.

📍The Social Hub Porto
📆 Every Sunday | 11:00

Porto Yoga Club is hosting free yoga sessions throughout the month, giving you plenty of chances to stretch, move, and take a moment for yourself. Whether it’s your first class or you’re a regular, it’s a simple, relaxed way to start the week feeling a little lighter and more centred.

In Case You Missed It:

If you’re new to Porto (or just keen to expand your circle), Expat Girls Porto is one of those communities that makes the city feel smaller in the best way. They host up to four events every month — from casual meet-ups to fun, social plans — so there’s almost always something going on. It’s an easy way to meet new people, make friends, and actually have a social calendar without overthinking it.

JANUARY PAID EVENTS

📍Coliseu Porto Ageas
📆 January 24 | 21:00
🎟️  €30 – €40 | Get Your Tickets

Madeira’s indie-rock band NAPA is coming to Porto for a proper live show, having shot to national fame after winning Festival da Canção and representing Portugal at Eurovision 2025 with their song Deslocado, a track about saudade and belonging that ended up on lots of people’s playlists.

Expect a full set featuring a mix of their best known tracks and some newer material that showcases the band’s evolution over the past year.

One of the most famous musicals of all time is coming to Porto. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS hits the Super Bock Arena this month. Expect a big production full of iconic songs like Memory, impressive choreography, and that classic theatrical energy that’s kept this show touring around the world for decades. If you’re up for something a bit theatrical and full of spectacle, it’s one of the bigger cultural nights on the January calendar.

📍Pergaminho Vanguarda
📆 January 16 | 15:00 – 17:00 OR 19:00-21:00
⏳️Registration Deadline:  January 7

If you’re like me and you’ve wandered through a museum, staring at Roman art and quietly wondering how humans pulled off something so incredible, this mosaic workshop might be right up your alley. You’ll learn traditional techniques, get hands on, and end up with a genuinely one-of-a-kind piece of art to take home. A little creative, a little meditative, and all kinds of satisfying.
